
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player plays as a striker for San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) and is captain of San Diego Wave FC. She was also co-captain of the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. In the months following her graduation in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She made her debut in professional football and assisted the team in winning the league title. Morgan, who was 22 at the time, was the youngest player in the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, in which the team finished second. In 2012's London Olympics she scored the winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final game against Canada. She was the second player in the United States to score 20 goals and 21 assists for 2012, making her the youngest and sixth-highest scoring player in the United States to achieve 20 goals in a single year. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was an FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and 2019. Morgan was selected to both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
