Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12 1988,) is a Canadian actress and singer. In 2005, O'Neil won the third season of Canadian Idol, the first Canadian female to have ever won. As an actress, she is known for her roles as Two and Rebecca / Portia Lin on the Syfy science fiction show Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama series The Rookie.Although she was highly praised by the judges, she was a victim of massive setbacks both in the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals as she was voted in the bottom three and the bottom two in both the bottom three and bottom two. In shock, the judges advised viewers to vote for contestants such as Melissa who had the best vocal abilities. O'Neil's performance was consistently praised and O'Neil did not slip back into the bottom three. Zack Werner, the judge, called O'Neil "a threat to win the entire competition". On September 7, 2005, O'Neil made it into the final two stages of the competition, along with Rex Goudie, and after yet more stunning performances and performances, judge Werner famously said that the headlines of the next day's newspaper would read "The King, Kalan Porter has died Long live the Queen." At the grand finale's final results ceremony on September 14 in 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to win the title of the third Canadian Idol, as well as being the first female winner, and (at 17) the youngest contestant in history.
