Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. Kotero was also co-starring in Prince's 1984 film, Purple Rain. She was the lead female vocalist in Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The actor and singer named Apollonia by Prince was one of many female performers in the 1980s who benefited from her relationship with Prince, the Purple One. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the late '70s. This included an appearance on CHiPS. In 1984 she landed the female lead of Prince's Purple Rain (during which time he switched her names) and replaced Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 which performed on the screen under the name Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, a minor hit song from the soundtrack was her greatest chart hit. The relationship between Kotero and Prince came to an end when the duo were at odds over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group that she belonged to had a ended up splitting.
